AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden sect.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
