Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the state, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Homeowners reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received 598 emergency reports across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing - numerous assistance requests
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were lacking electricity.

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk expected across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
